Greetings
to the Fabulous Farwest Region!
It is with immense humility that I introduce myself to you as your
Farwest Regional Representative. Thank you for believing in me; I vow to
work tirelessly with the Leadership Team to bring you the resources and
tools needed to expand, unify, and inspire our region to further fulfill
its mission.
In a region that is facing devastating declines in membership among
undergraduate chapters, it is my goal to stimulate growth. Can you
imagine what would happen on our college campuses and within our
respective communities if collegiates were challenged in their junior
and senior years to seek out, identify and/or create national and local
Delta initiatives and programs? We’re the generation of sorors that need
to be stretched.
This year, I am developing a tool kit geared
towards bridging the gap between collegiate and alumnae chapters.
Entitled, A Soror’s Hand, this resource kit contains tools and
strategies for a soror’s successful transition into an Alumnae
Sisterhood. Developed with a committee of both collegiate and alumnae
sorors, A Soror’s Hand contains some of the following aspects:
- A training
program that teaches collegiate sorors
how to lead and conduct effective study
group sessions;
-
Identifying better resources for
collegiate programs and activities;
including increasing collegiates’
professional network and access to local
minority businesses and professionals;
- Developing
an alumnae resource that pairs a
collegiate chapter with a local alumnae
mentor with whom they can call on when
creating programs and/or events on their
campus;
- Developing
an Online Sisterhood that supports and
brings awareness to the variety of
issues that impact our undergrad
campuses and local communities. This
blog will support the exchange of ideas
and resources among sorors; as well as
increase the communication and network
within our Farwest Sisterhood.
After attending Collegiate Day at the 47th
Farwest Regional Conference, I know that we are constantly progressing
within our local chapters and communities. However, let’s not be
content. We must continue to work together and remain a force to be
reckoned with! I look forward to this amazing opportunity to represent
the collegiate body. But more importantly, I look forward to engaging
with each of you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any
questions or would simply like to talk. I am always available.
Sisterly,
Krystle Evans
